Hartford International University for Religion and Peace, a 187-year-old institution with programs that focus on interreligious dialogue and peacebuilding, is seeking an energetic and motivated Director of Facilities and Campus Operations to join a committed team. Hartford International is in the midst of an exciting process of strategic change: redesigned academic programs, new partnerships, and emerging centers. In 2021, we changed our name from Hartford Seminary to Hartford International University for Religion and Peace (HIU) to better represent our longstanding mission as a place that builds community and works toward peace through interreligious understanding. We have begun a series of projects to update our 13-building, 10-acre campus to better support the activities of the University.

Position Overview

The Director of Facilities and Campus Operations works closely with members of Senior Leadership and the Board of Trustees Buildings and Grounds committee to ensure a beautiful and well-functioning campus that meets the needs of our new and evolving programs. The Board of Trustees is committed to allocating a portion of its annual endowment draw to capital projects, for which this position will manage. In-person work is required with some flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning for and the completion of capital projects
  • Oversight of all campus maintenance activities
  • Management of facilities staff and budgets
  • Campus public health, safety, and security
  • Campus housing and space rentals
  • Space management

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with the ability to work and communicate effectively with multiple constituencies, experience working in higher education or other non-profit organizations, and strong organizational and management/supervisory skills.
