Spiritual Companions Group at HIU (Online)

Hartford International University and the Spiritual Life Center (West Hartford) invite you to be part of a Spiritual Companions Group at HIU.  Such a group consists of 6 persons who meet once a month to talk with one another about their spiritual journeys.  These groups are led by experienced spiritual directors. 

This gentle and contemplative process involves taking a “long loving look” at one’s life in an atmosphere of confidentiality, trust, and openness.  Individuals take turns sharing matters of spiritual interest. Other group members listen attentively and respond in ways that encourage the presenter to explore the situation more deeply.  It is a very respectful process, without advice giving or attempts to "fix" the presenter.  Over time a strong sense of community develops among group members. 

Diversity is valued: persons of any spiritual tradition, or no tradition, are welcome to participate.  Group members will receive a handout that provides guidance on how we can best companion one another. No prior experience is necessary.

You could use a Spiritual Companions Group to help you:

• Identify and trust your experiences of God
• Integrate spirituality into your daily life
• Find meaning in hopes, struggles, or losses
• Discern and make difficult choices
• Increase sensitivity to Justice, Peace, & Environment
• Live more authentically in spiritual community.

The Spiritual Companions Group at HIU group will meet online for 5 sessions on the 4th Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 8 PM.  The dates are 2/24, 3/24, 4/28, 5/26, and 6/23. The program is part of the collaboration between the Spiritual Life Center and Hartford International University.  It is offered free to all current and former students of HIU as a non-credit, co-curricular opportunity.  Space is limited, so register early.  If you are interested in this program but not a current or former student, please send an email expressing your interest to Oscar Brockmeyer at  obrockmeyer@spiritlifectr.org
