We are proud to announce that Aida Mansoor, Director of Field Education, received the Vision Award for Social Justice from the Charter Oak Cultural Center at a ceremony earlier in May.

Aida was one of three recipients of the Vision Award, Charter Oak's annual recognition of individuals making a difference in our community.

The program offered this bio for Aida:

"Aida Mansoor is the Director of Field Education and works with students in the Peacebuliding and Chaplaincy Graduate Programs at Hartford International University for Religion and Peace. Her volunteer affiliations past and present include the Islamic Association of Greater Hartford, the Muslim Coalition of Connecticut, and the Muslim Coalition of Connecticut. Committed to building bridges of understanding, Aida has been delivering presentations on Islam, Muslims and women since 1999. She is a board member of the Connecticut Council for Interreligious Understanding and has received numerous awards for her work. Aida was inducted into the Immigrant Heritage Hall of Fame in 2022."

Other award recipients included Merrill Mandell, who received the award for Jewish Heritage, and Tao LaBossiere, who received the Arts and Education award posthumously.

The Charter Oak Cultural Center presents multi-cultural arts programming for free or at very low cost to 1,000 underserved young people in Hartford. The center also works with the homeless community and presents performances and exhibits centered around the issues of the day.
