Indonesian Scholars Join HIU Community

A cohort of seven Indonesian J-1 scholars joined the HIU community in early September.

The Macdonald Center, in partnership with the Civilizations Exchange and Cooperation Foundation (CECF) in Columbia, Maryland, and the Istiqlal Mosque Ulama Cadre Education program in Jakarta, Indonesia, will host the Indonesian scholars for several months.

They will work with faculty advisors on their research, visit local field education sites to experience American civil society, and engage with the HIU campus community.

“I am grateful to Akeem Burgess, Eamon Ormseth, and Dr. Rosita Tandos of the Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta, who have worked very hard to help make this happen,” said Dr. David D. Grafton, Director of The Macdonald Center.

 “I am also grateful to Drs. Lisa Dahil, Colleen Keyes, Mona Siddiqui, and Timur Yuskaev who will be serving as advisors to these scholars this fall.”
