Bishop Dr. Benjamin K. Watts

Shiloh Baptist Church announces the 40th Pastoral Anniversary of its esteemed leader, Bishop Dr. Benjamin K. Watts. A weekend of celebration is scheduled for October 24-26, 2025, to honor four decades of his visionary leadership, integrity, and unwavering devotion.

For 40 years, Bishop Watts has faithfully nurtured the Shiloh congregation alongside his wife, Leading Lady Cynthia Watts. His influence extends beyond the pulpit, establishing him as a respected counselor, community builder, teacher, and spiritual guide throughout Southeastern Connecticut. His ministry has uplifted countless lives and strengthened communities through impactful initiatives like the Shiloh Family Life Center.

A distinguished scholar, Bishop Dr. Watts is a 1995 graduate of Hartford International University for Religion and Peace, where he earned his Doctor of Ministry degree with distinction. He also holds a Master of Divinity from Yale University Divinity School and a B.A. in Psychology from Selma University and Alabama A&M.

Beyond his pastoral duties, Bishop Watts serves as the Executive Minister of the Howard Thurman Center for Justice and Transformational Ministry and Director of the Black Ministries Program at Hartford International University, where he is a Faculty Associate. Involved in his community, he has also served on the boards of the United Way, L&M Hospital, and Connecticut College.

Consecrated as a Bishop by the International Bishops Conference in 2008, his theological work emphasizes interfaith dialogue, interconnectedness, and living one's faith in the public square.

The anniversary theme is "Purpose. Power. Promise. Praise," which reflects the core of Bishop Watts' life and work.

Congratulations, Ben!
