Peacebuilding Alum Returns as Assistant Program Director
November 11, 2025
Hina Khan, who earned her Master of Arts in International Peacebuilding (MAP) from HIU in 2025, has been appointed Assistant Program Director for the same program.
Hina is a Pakistani-Canadian strategy and policy professional who has worked with the Pakistani government, higher education, and the private sector on issues such as human rights, climate change, and youth development. She also runs a philanthropic trust that provides humanitarian relief to needy visitors of the shrine of Sufi Saint Ali Bin Usman Hajveri in Lahore. In addition to her MA in International Peacebuilding, she holds a BS in Quantitative Economics and Mathematics from the University of Toronto.
“Being a student at HIU was one of the most meaningful pivots in both my personal and professional life. It’s a story I love to share because of how deeply transformative it was for me. The ethos of the MAP program, and of HIU more broadly, resonates deeply with my own philosophy and path,” she said.
“Having benefited so profoundly from the program and community, I feel genuinely honored for having this opportunity to give back — bringing the skills, experience, and perspective I’ve cultivated over the course of my career.”
Her addition to the MAP team will enable Program Director Phoebe Milliken to take a sabbatical next fall to concentrate on the strategic development of the peacebuilding program.
“I am so pleased to welcome Hina to HIU as a colleague. She brings deep experience in program management and strategic planning as well as firsthand knowledge of the MAP Program,” Phoebe said. “It is exciting to be working with her to strengthen and enhance peace education at HIU.”
Welcome, Hina!
