Hartford International University for Religion and Peace is pleased to announce that it has joined the Center for Chaplaincy Studies (CCS) consortium, which will give our students access to additional specialized courses.

The CCS describes itself as “a collective of theological thought leaders committed to equipping chaplains to minister courageously, compassionately, and creatively at the highest standards of care and competency.”

HIU students enrolled in the Master of Arts in Chaplaincy program may take one elective course in their program through the CCS. These synchronous and asynchronous online courses are listed on the regular schedule of course offerings for each semester.

Academic Dean David D. Grafton said of the initiative, “The courses in the CCS will allow our chaplaincy students access to further scholar-practitioners who are currently shaping the field of chaplaincy. This is an exciting opportunity for HIU to be in on the ground floor.”

Courses being offered in the fall of 2022 include Spiritual Care in an Age of #BlackLivesMatter and Spiritual Care & LGBTQ Experience.

CCS faculty members are specialists who prepare students for Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) and board certification in chaplaincy. Courses are available only through relationships with partner schools.
