Jamir Dean Meah '23 Returns to Teach Spiritual Care Practice

Jamir Dean Meah ‘23, a graduate of the MA in Interreligious Studies program, is back at HIU to lead a course on Theology and Scripture in Spiritual Care Practice. Designed for aspiring chaplains and ministers, the course explores how individuals in America’s diverse religious communities reflect on existential questions.
An accomplished Islamic scholar, Meah specializes in theology, Islamic law, legal hermeneutics, and Sufism. He has taught at multiple institutions, including roles as senior faculty and curriculum developer. In 2020, he founded the Key to the Garden Foundation, where he serves as resident scholar, promoting education, community development, and holistic well-being.
His research focuses on applying classical Islamic thought to modern issues. He has written extensively on theology, law, and ethics, addressing thousands of inquiries, and is currently working on publications related to Islamic law, logic, and history.
Currently, Meah holds multiple roles at Wesleyan University, serving as Assistant Director of the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life, Muslim Chaplain, and Professor.
