Connecticut State Law requires that all students born after December 31, 1956 and enrolled in post-secondary schools be protected against measles, rubella, mumps, and varicella and show proof of that protection. Additionally, students living on-campus are required to be immunized against meningitis. HIU policy strongly recommends that all students attending courses on campus be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as well as influenza. The Immunization Verification form must be completed by the end of the add-drop period of a student's first semester of matriculation.
The immunization requirements are:

| Meningitis (any enrolled student that uses on-campus housing) | 1 dose, given within the past 5 years | Medical and religious exemptions are allowed |
To assist students with complying with this requirement, Hartford International University has developed an Immunization Verification form. This form is included with the letter of admission and should be completed by a medical professional before you begin classes.

While some students are able to provide the required documentation, others find it is easier to undergo a blood test, which may show that they are immune. If they are not immune, then they must receive all of the required vaccinations.
Students who wish to seek a religious or medical exemption to any of the immunization requirements must submit an Immunization Exemption Request Form to the Registrar’s Office.

Students enrolled in classes who are not in compliance with this policy will be notified and subject to removal from their program of study and may incur financial obligations resulting from their failure to meet matriculation requirements. Hartford International University's refund policy does not include exemptions for costs incurred for failure to satisfy the university's immunization policy.
