Connecticut state law requires that students born after December 31, 1956 and enrolled in a graduate program or pursuing studies on a full-time basis be protected against measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella. Additionally, students living on-campus must receive the meningococcal (meningitis) vaccination. Students studying entirely online do not need to submit proof of vaccination.
The immunization requirements are:
|MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella)||2 doses, given 28 days apart, on or after 1st birthday||Individuals born before January 1, 1957; confirmation of immunity via a titer report; medical and religious exemptions are allowed|
|Varicella (chickenpox)||2 doses, given 28 days apart, on or after 1st birthday||Individuals born before January 1, 1980; confirmation of immunity via a titer report; medical and religious exemptions are allowed|
|Meningitis (on-campus students only)||1 dose, given within the past 5 years||Medical and religious exemptions are allowed|
|COVID-19||Dose number dependent on manufacturer requirement guidelines||Medical and religious exemptions are allowed|
To assist students with complying with this requirement, Hartford Seminary has developed an Immunization Verification form. This form is included with the letter of admission and must be completed by a medical professional before you begin classes.Immunization Verification Form
While some students are able to provide the required documentation, others find it is easier to undergo a blood test, which may show that they are immune. If they are not immune, then they must receive all of the required vaccinations.
Students who wish to seek a religious exemption to any of the immunization requirements must submit a Immunization Exemption Request Form to the Registrar’s Office.Immunization Exemption Request
Students enrolled in classes who are not in compliance will be notified that they will be removed from classes if they fail to fully comply with this requirement. Students removed from courses may be subject to academic penalties. No financial refunds will be issued if a student is removed from classes for failure to comply with the immunization requirement. For additional information or questions, contact the Registrar.
